A due date is basically only a "guessestimate". Average pregnancy is 40 weeks, plus or minus up to 2 or 3 weeks. As for what will happen when you get there, each facility is different, but when I was induced with my 2nd, I arrived at 6:30 AM, IV was inserted, pitocin began around 7 am, I was about 2cm, (38 weeks with increased b/p- 2nd baby) at 9 am I was around 3cm and they ruptured my membranes, and she was born at 2:50 PM. I would not be in a panic about why baby has not been born yet, good luck!
