I experienced uterine atony during a c-section just over a year ago. (It was unusual because it was not a multiple birth and my baby was not overly large. I am not overweight and am not a smoker.) After trying all the routine meds and massage techniques, my doctors performed a B-Lynch procedure and thankfully avoided a hysterectomy. Now as I contemplate getting pregnant again, I'm wondering if there is a higher risk of complication with a second pregnancy or if the uterine atony is likely to reoccur. Have there been any statistics published on this? Dear CK, Here are some links to information I found, the reference to study is with a small number of women, so not scientifically significant, it's encouraging, needless to say, you would want to explore other causes of bleeding prior to pregnancy and be followed appropriately.

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/451545_3 .....B-Lynch appears to be very effective. To date, this technique has been used in a series of 11 patients, in each case successfully averting hysterectomy[15-17]Subsequently, two of these women had uncomplicated pregnancies...delivered at term.One...patients had an electiveC/S...no adhesions/uterine defects were identified at the time of surgery. A third patient had an MRI and hysterosalpingogram following the B-Lynch suture and was noted to have normal uterine anatomy. In our combined experience, we have used this technique eight times after traditional interventions failed(methylgonovine maleate, carboprost tromethamine, oxytocin, surgical vessel ligation). One patient ultimately required...hysterectomy...intractable hemorrhage/hemodynamic instability. http://www.contemporaryobgyn.net/be_core/g/index.jsp
