Shauna,

You may be experiencing what is known as a "missed" miscarriage, in which the pregnancy does not develop but your body does not expel the fetus. In these cases, it may take several weeks for you to have a miscarriage, and during that time a pregnancy test will still be positive, although the levels will be declining. If the docs determine at your next sonogram that the fetus is not viable, and it is in fact past the point where a heartbeat would have been seen, they may recommend a D&C (surgical abortion) or they may suggest that you wait a little while to see if you miscarry on your own.

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you find much support and love as you go through the next days and weeks. Take very good care of yourself.
