I also had difficulties with a blood draw. The nurse said the vein kept spinning until she eventaully burst it. It stayed sore and bruised looking for around a week and a half. I can't remember if it was ever red though. I know that's your concern now, but I just wanted to tell you that I had part of that happen and it eventually got better.
