I have to travel out of town to deliver as well (not as far) - I have some suggestions.

First off you should stop work at least 1 or 2 weeks before your due date to take care of last minute things at home and relieve that worry.

Second once your contractions reach 20 minutes apart and are regular you should call your doc and head to the hospital. If you do work up to your due date DO NOT wait till your water breaks!

You'll be seeing your doc weekly in your 9th month so if you start getting close your doc will tell you when to stop working anyway.
