At least >my husband would be doing the driving... ;) Hi Anna I live about an hour from the hospital where I had my first baby and it wasn't a problem since I didn't start really laboring until I got to the hospital (my water had broke and I was just having mild crampy contractions). We had plenty of time to get there and get situated....they ended up giving me pitocin to speed things up since it was going quite slow (not unusual for first pregnancies, I guess). Chances are you'll have lots of time to get there....if you're feeling overwhelmed with the possibility of NOT getting there on time (or comfortably) my friend asked her doctor to induce her so that she could plan things better (We live in Maine and she was due in winter...very slow driving and traveling at times).
