To all Clomid users - has this ever happened to you ???From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 10 Aug 2003 14:53:23 -0500 (CDT)
I've been seeing a fertility dr. for a month (I'm 35 years old) - all initial testing was normal (bloodwork & HSG) - my dr. put me on Clomid due to ovulation dysfunction (I use the clearplan monitor and did not get a surges until cd's 20-23). He prescribed 50mg of clomid taken on cd's 4 & 5 and 100mg.'s on cd's 6, 7, & 8). According to ultrasound on (cd 13) I was responding quite well to the medication (3 follicles in one ovary and 1 in the other). I was asked to come back on (cd 16) for another ultrasound / post-coital test - at that time it was determined that I still did not ovulate, (follicles still good according to ultrasound) - my dr. said he would call with the results of my bloodwork. His message said that the Clomid caused a "disordered ovulation" where my progesterone levels were too high (I assume he meant "too high prior to ovulation"), and if this happens again next month (with clomid), we'll move onto injections. He left this for me on voicemail, so I was not able to ask any questions (he is also currently on vacation). My questions are as follows: 1. According to my monitor, I did not surge this month - isn't the Clomid supposed to help you ovulate or ovulate earlier than without ( I have seen a surge on the monitor for the past 6 months prior to this medication). 2. Could my dr. have given me a shot to make me ovulate - I was in the office for ultrasounds and bloodwork on cd's 13 and 16 - why wouldn't he have given me the shot is he saw I was not ovulating on my own. 3. Is it worth trying clomid next month ?
