Another option, from a fellow "cyster" (I tried over to get pregnant 3.5 years, did the Glucophage treatment to attempt regulation of insulin levels that in fact drive PCOS, etc... then started Atkins Diet) After doing Atkins for 9 months I got pregnant (I am now 8 months pregnant!) Atkins is the PERFECT diet for women with PCOS because when we have few carbs we naturally regulate our insulin which then naturally gives better than our normal balance of the hormones and often allows us to cycle unassisted an on time, and even ovulate and conceive the TRULY natural way (I began my first regular cycles monthly after 4 weeks on Atkins... never was able to be regular and "self-initiate" menses before!)... (the drugs that force ovulation carry risk of multiple birth, and as someone who started this pregnancy as a size 14/16 and has had complications beyond my PCOS, I can tell you I am glad I was too scared to risk multiple births due to fertility drugs! ONE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO CARRY AT ONCE!) The other thing with PCOS is many of us find that we are quick to miscarry due to insufficient progesterone levels, (I miscarried twice before), you need to get a OBGYN who will let you take blood pregnancy tests every 3wks or so so you catch pregnancy early (before miscarriage) and promptly begin progesterone... even my skilled, wonderful, sees alot of PCOSers OB did not believe I would conceive without drugs, but I did, and I have had BAAAAD PCOS since 9, so IMHO there are probably many cysters who can buckle down to Atkins, end up feeling much healthier, AND GET PREGO-AU-NATUREL!

HTH and Good Luck!

The first thing they will do is >give you a pill that starts your period and then give you a 3 day drug >that forces you to ovulate. At that point, you still go home and >concieve naturally. If that doesn't work (and it usually does) they >will try artificial insemination. Hope this helps! Keep your hopes >high. It is more than possible (I am 19 wees PG). Best of luck to you! > >Jenn
