I imagine that there is some time elapsed between when you get the positive urine result and then the negative serum result. You could be having 'chemical pregnancies'. Please look up this term but essentially it is a very early pregnancy that fails to implant not delaying the period at all or just by a couple days. Usually with this, you will test positive one day and the next day or a couple days later, the tests (both urine and blood) will be negative. You say they gave you a quantitive test, what was your level? Was it under 5 or under 25. Under 5 is a definite negative result, under 25 is borderline and may indicate that you are/were pregnant depending if the numbers drop or raise. Chemical pregnancies are very commmon and are only being noticed because of the increasing sensitivity of home pregnancy tests. Remember that a test read after the time suggested by the manufacturer (usually no longer than 10 minutes or so) with a positive line is negative. Good luck!
