early pregnancy lossFrom: Mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 5 Aug 2003 16:37:41 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. I just had a d&c at about 8 weeks. I had concerns about the pregnancy from about 5 weeks lmp, since I had brown spotting and no real pregnancy symptoms, but at my first dr.'s visit two weeks ago, a heartbeat was seen during an ultrasound. However, they told me I must have my dates off by a couple of weeks since the embryo was so small, although the egg sac was large in relation. The following week, no heartbeat was found and it was determined that it wasn't a viable pregnancy. My question is, is it normal for a heartbeat to be seen and then have the embryo die? Does this indicate a certain type of problem? And, does the larger egg sac mean anything specific? Thanks.
