GBS is a very comon bacteria, you can have it in the skin or in your throat (causing angina)or without causing any problem , just colonization. But for the baby that has to go through the vagina, GBS can be very dabgerous so that is why you have to receive penicillin. GBS is not a sexual transmitted disease.
