My husband and I are trying to conceive. I have severe asthma and allergies (have been hospitalized several times) and am taking several medication a day. I did have a preconception appointment with my OBGYN, but now I have read conflicting information on the medications I take and would like a second opinion. Here are the meds - I am particularly concerned about Nasacort: Flovent 220mcg 2 puffs 2xday Atrovent 2 puffs 2xday Nasacort AQ (triamcinolone acetonide - nasal spray) 2 puffs each nostril 1xday Zyrtec at bedtime Albuterol inhaler and nebulizer solution as needed

Dear Erica, I have chronic bronchitis I used to take many medications but learned that I was recessive for a genetic condition:Alpha-1-Antitrypsin deficiency and have found that getting my ATT levels up into the normal range by taking Vitamin-E(I have the labs to prove it)eliminated all my symptoms eventually and I no longer use inhalers etc, I keep them handy if needed PRN. Anyone with or a family history of respiratory disorders, asthma or emphysema, should be tested. It could improve your symptoms of asthma and open up other Rx or treatment possibilities. Usually Rx is a matter of whether the benefits outweigh the risks during pregnancy. Goto http://www.alphaone.org or http://www.alpha1.org for more information, free & confidential testing, I hope this helps, Marie
