I am in a similar situation as you. My hypothyroidism was detected at 6 weeks for the first time in my life with TSH of 24. Yes you want to see the normal range for each lab as their ranges could be different based on the lab.

Yes, I went through extreme stress like you when I found out about my thyroid problem. But atleast the good part is you are already on medication which is a good new.

Also another thing that is more important than just TSH is FT4. The combination tells you how your thyroids are working. By just looking at TSH you are only seeing how your pitutary(?)gland is producing. Looking at FT4 it will tell you how your thyroid gland is producing.

I know this information may not have helped you much. But I am not a doctor so I cannot advise you on how much medication should you take. Only your doctors will be able to tell you that.

But all that I wanted to say was, there are people exactly in the same condition as you.....
