Dear Lola (btw I love your name),

I just recently had a sono where all measurements were on target except for abdomen, which was big. (the difference was about two weeks). The sonogram doc was concerned not about dwarfism but about gestational diabetes -- in other words, the baby is a bit fatter than he/she should be b/c of excess glucose in my bloodstream. Failed my 1-hour glucose screen, and will go in for a 3 hour test on Friday to confirm a diagnosis of GD, which is easily controlled and has little effect on the baby (more on the mom). You might request a follow0--up glucose test based on the sono -- it's certainly an easier diagnosis to make/to take at this point.

best, dawn
