marginal placenta previa/anemic/low bp......vaginal or csection delivery?From: Tiff (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Jul 2003 14:14:21 -0500 (CDT)
For all ultrasounds during my pregnancy, I have been told that I have marginal placenta previa. I am currently at 34 weeks. Last ultrasound was at 30 weeks at the placenta had not yet "migrated" away from the cervical os, actually the placenta has not moved at all during this whole pregnancy. The placenta is 7mm (almost 1cm) from the cervical os with a posterior location. I have another ultrasound in 2 weeks and would like a "2nd opinion" ,of sorts, before I go to discuss my options with my doctor. I've done a lot of reading and just want to go into my meeting well prepared. At this point, I think my preference is to request a c-section because it seems like the safer option for me........................................................................OK here are the questions. (1) If the placenta stays in the same place and knowing that I have anemia with blood pressure in the normal range, but low, would you say the chances for c-section are high? Would you recommend a c-section or a vaginal birth? (2) Would there be more risks involved in a vaginal birth or a c-section?...............................................................Thanks for your help. I really don't care which way my child is born and I want to remain flexible, but I also want to go the safest route for me and my child. Thanks again. Tiff
