Doctor said we should think about amniocentesisFrom: Jennifer (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Jul 2003 12:39:18 -0500 (CDT)
I have had a rocky pregnancy....I'm 32 and 9 weeks pregnant, our first child's pregnancy was great, 2nd pregnancy ended in a blighted ovum and this pregnancy has had me with low progesterone (ranging from 5.5 - 8) but normal doubling Hcg. We saw the heartbeat (138bpm) at 7.5 weeks and embryo is measuring correct, however my sack is "measuring small" (about a week and a half off). Now my MD is getting us in the mind-set of having amniocentesis IF I get to the second trimester (his words, not mine). IS this necessary??? We're scared and still numb from the miscarriage....I have had no other problems with the pregancy....I am taking 25mg progesterone 3x a day (have been since 5 weeks)....no idea what my levels were when I was pregnant with my daugheter (weren't testsed) and hoping this is just "normal" for me??? Any thoughts??? Really don't want to do amnio if it isn't needed!! Is sack size a real concern and cause for amnio??
