Pregnancy Weight GainFrom: Expecting (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 29 Jul 2003 16:00:48 -0500 (CDT)
I am thrilled to be expecting my second child in September. I am currently about 32 weeks pregnant. At my last ob-gyn appointment I was informed that my total pregnancy weight gain is only 14 lbs as of 30 weeks. I am eating very healthy but despite this have not been able to gain the "recommended" amount of weight for this pregnancy. Is it common that women do not gain to the extent that is suggested (25-35lbs)? If the baby is measuring ok is there any risk or consequence of a below average weight gain in pregnancy? I have heard it may affect me later in the postpartum period as I may loose the weight very quickly. Your comments are appreciated.
