Re: Please Help....Continuous Spotting @ 9 weeksFrom: Marie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 20 Jul 2003 17:29:59 -0500 (CDT)
Sun,20Jul2003,Jenniwrote: I am nine weeks pregnant and have had problems with spotting for about 3 weeks. I have been to the ER twice due to bleeding that was a bit heavier than spotting. At first it seemed like the spotting occured after I had a bowel movement, or intestinal cramping die to bowels. The two incidences of bleeding occured during a bowel movement. I have been having some problems with constipation. Now it just seems as if everyday I have some sort of spotting. It is never enough to show in my underwear, just enough to notice on toilet tissue. Each time I have gone to my doctor, or to the emergency room, I have seen the heartbeat on the ultrasound. My latest ultrasound was four days ago and the heart was beating strongly. I have not heard the heartbeat yet on doppler. Is this much spotting normal? I am at my wits end. Can this have anything to do with bowel problems? My doctor said, at my first visit, that my uterus is tilted. Is there anything that can ease my mind?? Please help. Dear Jenni, Constipation's very common in pregnancy&something to manage early or you'll be in misery! Eat fruit, fiber, @least8-8oz water daily, stool-softeners and if necessary doctor's laxative-Rx. @9weeks you may have trouble hearing heartbeat using home dopplers and doctor may have trouble hearing on doppler with tipped uterus because of the way it lies, worse if you are constipated. Your uterus has to right its-self into a vertical position. Has the doctor remarked on its position since the 1stvisit? It may become a problem about now, the last part of the first or beginning of the second trimester. Spotting could be a symptom of several problems including troubles related to uterine position. Tipped uterus is common and you may be given exercises if it doesn't reposition soon, or it may be manually repositioned. Here's a link to an article about uterine positions, it may not ease your mind, but it will inform you and give you an idea what to ask your doctor or what to report. http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic3473.htm I hope this helps, Marie
