Re: Pulmonary Embolism Post C-Section.From: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 8 Jul 2003 22:55:53 -0500 (CDT)
I do not know anything more than what you have indicated in your note.I would ask your physician ab out a Thrombophilia workup to determine if some factor in your blood makes clotting more likely in y ou than in others. Also ask about the use of low-molecular weight heparin which may be given once o r twice a day. Some ladies get a blood clot after the pregnancy is over and not during it.There is mu ch that you need to talk over with your physician and his/her consultant. Five days after I developed bloodclots (2) in my right leg, which after 3 days broke off and traveled tomy right lung (pulmonary embolism). I placed back in the hospital andtreated wit h TPPA, then released after 5 days. At that time I wasplaced on 5mg of coumadin for a period of 6 mo nths. I have had no otherproblems. I have had no other blood clots.I deeply want another child ( I o nly have one). I am the same weightthat I was 10 years ago, and in good health. I have been tested t o seeif my blood was positive for clotting disorders and the test wasnegative :) Is the probability very high that I would have anotherpulmonary embolism? My OBGYN suggested I be on a heparin pump the entirepregnancy, is that really necessar? Does that pose a risk to my unbornchild? Please, give me your opinion. I am collecting as many aspossible. Thank You Dearly.
