Pulmonary Embolism Post C-Section.From: Cindi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 7 Jul 2003 20:29:33 -0500 (CDT)
I am a 35 year old white female 5 foot 6, 235 pounds, non-smoker, and non-drinker. I am on no current medication. I have no current health problems. I get annual thorough physicals. Ten years ago, I had a c-section. Five days after I developed blood clots (2) in my right leg, which after 3 days broke off and traveled to my right lung (pulmonary embolism). I placed back in the hospital and treated with TPPA, then released after 5 days. At that time I was placed on 5mg of coumadin for a period of 6 months. I have had no other problems. I have had no other blood clots. I deeply want another child ( I only have one). I am the same weight that I was 10 years ago, and in good health. I have been tested to see if my blood was positive for clotting disorders and the test was negative :) Is the probability very high that I would have another pulmonary embolism? My OBGYN suggested I be on a heparin pump the entire pregnancy, is that really necessar? Does that pose a risk to my unborn child? Please, give me your opinion. I am collecting as many as possible. Thank You Dearly.
