I have gone out and checked the reviews and Lorrie is right. In fact, there were a lot of reviews by doctors(peds) and other baby book authors and they all highly reccomended getting Dr. Karp's book. When I had my daughter 3 years ago the hospital swaddled the babies very tightly. In fact I thought they swaddled them a little too tight. The babies weren't able to move very much. They seemed to be perfectly content when this was done. Have any of you considered that maybe Katya and her husband might not be able to swaddle their daughter as tightly as she needs to feel secure? I don't find the duct taping abusive just odd. Especially since she has said her daughter is down to only being swaddled at night and she's barely 2 months old. Most people that wrote the reviews said the book was good for newborn up to 3 months old. Any older and you would have to look else were for help. I personally never liked using the mittens. I always found them to be too big. I used the newborn socks myself. For the record my daughter fell in the average range for her size. Another thing you can clip a baby's nails as close as you can get and they well still manage to scratch themselves. It does sound like there is a misunderstanding here.
