If a pregnant woman @17 weeks had a cat scan would they be able to tell by the results? just curious....doin a research paper....any input would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Dear Alicia, First of all, what is your question? A CT of what? Indications? ??? Marie

just a normal cat scan of her abdominal area. would they be able to see the baby?

Dear Alicia, Yes, the baby could be seen.

CT scans use X-rays and sometimes contrast mediums, the technician should be informed if there is pregnancy or suspected pregnancy present at any stage, prior to Dx imaging.
