Hear, hear! Have your opinions, but save your judgements.

I "Ferberized" my son at 5 months, by letting him "cry it out" for 1 hour (with regular check-ins see Dr Ferber). This took ONE night. Ever since (21/2 years), he has slept through the entire night (12 hours), so he is well-rested and happy and I am well-rested and happy. This works for both of us, but I'm sure it wouldn't work for everyone.

Falling to sleep on one's own is something that has to be learend - there are hundreds of options/timelines on how to teach this - choose one that works for you, but remember it has to be learned.

And quit preaching. Parenthood is humbling, and at some point you will realize that you (nor anyone else) are not even close to being perfect.
