Re: Does Clomid Work?From: Julie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 1 Jul 2003 17:45:09 -0500 (CDT)
>From my research, Clomid does work for some people. It is used to help women who either do not ovulate at all or who ovulate late in their cycle. If you are ovulating regularly on your own then Clomid will likely not help you. In fact, it may even hurt your chances because it can dry up your fertile mucous and thin out your uterine lining. If Clomid is going to work for you, it will generally do so within 3-4 cycles. You really should have a complete infertility workup to include things like an HSG (hysterosalpingogram) to check your uterus and tubes, blood work to check your hormonal levels and whether or not you're ovulating, a sperm analysis for your husband etc. Just prescribing Clomid without any testing seems a little odd to me. Good luck to you! P.S. Not a Dr. but have tons of experience with this stuff!
