Re: Husband and vitaminsFrom: Katya (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Jun 2003 19:53:45 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Stacie, A year ago, I would have answered "No", but I recently read a study that indicated that husband's intake of folic acid may be linked to lower rates of cancer in children. So buy him a folic acid supplement, 800 mcg is the amount recommended for pregnant women, so that would be a good benchmark. http://www.drgreene.org/body.cfm?id=21&action=detail&ref=331 Actually, folic acid is also good for preventing Downs syndrom if mothers take it. Start 2-3 months before conception. http://www.drgreene.org/body.cfm?id=21&action=detail&ref=540 Dr. Green is a pediatrician in Stanford. Both studies he sites were published in peer reviewed publications. Best wishes,
-- Katya (not a doctor, just a biochemist)
