I was 3 cm dialated for almost 4 weeks before I went into labor! Every appointment I was thinned out more and the doctors would strip my membranes and told me that they'd see me over the weekend. The weekend would slip on by and still no baby. After being on meds to stop preterm labor, the baby just didn't want to come out! I ended up carrying Kaitlyn until the day after my due date! I learned that dialation and effacement cannot predict labor nor did striping the membranes cause more than spotting and cramping. Good luck and hope you have an enjoyable labor!
