I am curious to know how long it typically takes a baby to arrive from the time someone is told they are dilated 1 cm and "starting to thin"?

Just got back from the doc and we were offerred a VERY wide time frame and are on pins and needles now, being told to just "be on alert."

Can someone please narrow down this time frame for us or at least give us some ideas from their professional experience.
