Re: 3 girls and wanting a boy -From: Marie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 18 Jun 2003 10:09:08 -0500 (CDT)
Stacey, I was looking for the right words to share with you & believe Lynn found most of them. Your use of the words:feeling "terrible", "horrible" & "distraught", are not words associated with "Choice" of any kind, but rather, "Coercion". You came to a site where people are seeking to deliver healthy babies, often after many heartbreaking experiences. Perhaps you came here for another reason, for support and encouragement? You are fortunate to have three healthy daughters & now the gift of another child. Instead of expectation, you have dread. Perhaps it is more than one anticipated loss that brings you here. If your relationship with your husband is such that you feel compelled to consider such an option for reasons other than health, then what will be the state of that relationship, no matter the choice you make? Something you may want to discuss openly with your husband first if you are able, otherwise a trusted advisor or counselor before you make any decisions or incur regrets. I also noted that you didn't use the word, "terminate" you said, "not keeping" which gives you another option, time to change your minds & learn the sex with ultrasound with less risk to the pregnancy that either CVS or amnio present. It seems you have several options & difficult choices to make. I hope you find the strength, wisdom & support you need to make them & peace once you have, I wish you all the best. Subject: 3girls & wanting a boy Tue, 17 Jun 2003 19:46:53 -0500 This may sound so terrible, but my husband and I have 3 very healthy girls. We had thought we were done trying for the boy but just recently found out we are expecting again. My EDD is Feb. 7th, 2004. We are seriously contemplating not keeping this baby. I know it sounds terrible and I am distraught over the whole situation, I have been reading about Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) being done as early as 9-10 weeks of pregnancy, I know its only supposed to be used as a tool to find out genetic disorders in fetus early. I am wondering if anyone knows if its been performed as a tool to find out the sex of your unborn child and if so how do you go about arranging it. Feeling so horrible!!!
