Re: 3 girls and wanting a boyFrom: Katya (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 17 Jun 2003 20:10:51 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Stacey, Umm, just ask your doctor to do a CVS at 12 weeks? (earlier CVS may not be a great idea because of possible damage to the fetus' limbs). If you are in the United States, they will disclose the gender. I think Canada has a law against disclosing gender before 25 weeks to prevent people from doing what you are doing... Since there is no medical indication for a CVS with your history, you may have to pay for it yourself. I would use the time between now and CVS to step back and seriously consider if you are making the right decision. If you ever disclose this decision to your children, you may do incredible damage... and perhaps even if you don't disclose, your very attitude is doing damage already. Whatever you do, please don't treat your precious girls as second-class children, especially if this pregnancy turns out to be a boy after all.
