Marginal Placenta SeparationFrom: Krissy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 11 Jun 2003 15:13:23 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I am 14 weeks pregnant and began mild bleeding last week. I went to the ER at the onset of symptoms and they did an ultrasound. No fetal distress was observed. Fetal heart tones were all within normal range. There was what appeared to be a small marginal separation of the placenta near my cervix. I was prescribed bedrest for 72 hours. After 72 hours the bleeding stopped for the most part with the exception of a few brown tiny spots every now and then. I went back to my Dr. and had another US done a week later and the fetus still looked good. Currently I am experiencing no symptoms with the exception of a few very small brown spots intermittently. My questions are as follows: I am RH Neg. My husband is RH + so there is a good chance the baby will be RH positive. Should I get a rhogam injection early (< 28 weeks)since I was bleeding? Also, how will this affect the health of my baby as my pregnancy progresses? Thanks.
