breastfeeding & exerciseFrom: Holly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 9 Jun 2003 11:27:28 -0500 (CDT)
I have a 3.5 month old daughter who I am breastfeeding and would like to continue to do so until 7 months or so. I am still carrying about 10lbs of post-pregancy weight. I have heard many theories about exercise diminishing one's milk supply or changing the milk in such a way that it upsets baby's stomach (due to lactic acid build-up while exercising perhaps?). Do you have to carry an extra 5-10lbs while breastfeeding to maintain milk supply? Is it safe to exercise moderately (I don't want my milk supply to go down)? What is the latest on this issue? Thanks, Holly
