You may try adding some spices that are traditionally known to aid digestion, such as cinnamon & ginger to your foods, mint & spice teas to your diet. Chewing on spice flavored gum drops may also help. If you have tried these things you may want to try them again after considering the second part of my reply.

Since Reglan didn't work & a family Hx of GERD you may have an inherited deficiency metabolizing substances related to sulfur especially if you are constipated, have slow digestion when you are not pregnant or are sensitive to antibiotics like Sulfa, penicillin or aspirin, NSAID's antiseizure Rx. If you limit major sources of sulfur from your diet: wine, dried fruits, some beans, egg yokes, the lilly family including garlic & onions you will still get enough sulfur in your diet but not more than you can process. Vitamin B6 has been studied for morning sickness & zinc binds with excess sulfur so you may want to ask your physician about using them as supplements. I hope this helps, Marie

I am 27 years old, 14 1/2 weeks pregnant (no previous births or miscarriages) and suffering from severe acid relux - throwing up 3-4 times per day - everything I eat. I have tried all the dietary suggestions with no relief. (My OB suggested Pepcid AC, which worked about 4 weeks ago when the symptoms were just starting). I called my OB this week and he referred me to my primary care physician for help. I couldn't get an appointment with my physician until this coming week, so I ended up going to the urgent care 3 days ago and seeing an RN because I felt so awful! I have acid in my throat constantly, heartburn, and have developed a cough which causes me to vomit up everything I have eaten. Sleeping on an incline is also not helping. The RN prescribed Reglan (didn't help me) and told me to see my physician for something stronger if it didn't help. I have tried Pepcid, Tums, Maalox, and Mylanta. What else can anyone suggest? I am cosidering asking my doc about Prevacid or Nexium. Are those safe and what are the chances that a primary care physician would prescribe them to a pregnant woman? Also, GERD runs in my family....
