Is it a progesterone problem? LPD?From: Sandra (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 7 Jun 2003 21:25:49 -0500 (CDT)
This is my 6th cycle TTC#2. I have been BBT/FAM charting, and my LP seems to be mysteriously shrinking. My last LP lengths have been 12, 12, 11, 10, 10... all with a day or two of spotting before the LP officially ends. Needless to say, a 10 day LP does not make me happy. Even 11 is not that great when you factor in the spotting. I have been doing some reading about luteal phase defect, and I want to approach my doctor about looking into progesterone supplementation. I have a couple of real basic questions first, though. 1) My LP is short, but my temps have been very decent. Can a progesterone problem be reflected simply by a shortened LP, or do the typical low LP temps always play a part as well? 2) Can I expect my OBGyn to be willing to try progesterone supplementation ASAP based on my chart history, or is extensive testing and an RE referral necessary first? I just wonder what the usual protocol is... I'm not even sure how much an OBGyn can do for someone with difficulty ttc when compared to an RE. I'll be seeing my OBGyn on cd14, right before my usual date of ovulation... the timing couldn't be better to try progesterone. Thanks in advance for any input...
