Re: 'stripping the membranes'... anonymous replyFrom: Melanie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 5 Jun 2003 17:29:42 -0500 (CDT)
Actually, I wasn't sure if it was just me, being a wimp, or what. It was very uncomfortable.. I don't know that I'd say painful.. but it prompted me to ask my doula why a cervix check would be so uncomfortable.. she was the one who mentioned what she thought the doc had done to me... not that I minded too much, I'm at that point now where things are progressing anyway, and getting slightly miserable. I wonder if they would do this more than once... I'm willing to give it another try! (I've not heard/read where this procedure is too invasive.. would be interested to know) (my husband is afraid to have sex this week, because it's less convenient for him, work-wise for me to go into labor this week).. so all I have is walking, and hoping! :) (and to 'B'... yes, I thought it odd and weird and intrusive that the doc didn't tell me what she was doing. I found out from the OB nurse on staff that some docs at this practice, including mine, do it on the sly like that. Although I'm rather dumbfounded as to why.)
