Re: Cervix tight shut

I feel for you! I am also pregnant with my 5th child, but am only 37 weeks. I was having contractions for about 15 hours 1 and 1/2 weeks ago and found to be 1 cm. 5 days later, I was 2 cm. I just went in today and am still 2 cm, said my cervix is long and pointed back and the babies head has popped up. I feel like crying. I don't know how you can stand it! You've been having real contractions this whole time, not just b/h? I assume "soft" means that you are effacing. I don't know what else it could mean. It does seem strange that you are so tightly closed after 4 babies! Did you have any kind of cervical problems that could be making your cervix resistant to opening? I've heard that a conization could do that, though I had one right before becoming pregnant with my 3rd child and it seemed to have the opposite effect. I do know that if your cervix is not ready, trying to induce could end up with you having a c-section. Well, anyway, Good luck. I'll try to send some "dilating thoughts" your way.
