Ruling out ectopic pregnancyFrom: lorie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 21 May 2003 08:00:12 -0500 (CDT)
I have gone through an IUI cycle and tested positive with the home pregnancy test. I have lower abdominal pain and my doctor suspected that ectopic pregnancy should be watched for. The following are the findings as of today (Day 35 from the last menstrual period) : beta-HCG level is 3767.8 mIU/ml. The ultra sound scan reported : "a single intra-uterine gestational sac measuring 4 mm with decidual reaction noted; corpus luteum cyst 4.3x3.0 cm seen in left ovary; minimum fluid in pouch of Douglas". Is this sufficient to rule out an ectopic pregnancy? I am so worried because of the pain(mild as of now) in the lower abdomen. I do not have any spotting or bleeding or nasuea as of today. Can you please tell the steps to exclude ectopic pregnancy for sure? Thanks, Lorie
