Re: 2 C-sections and looming 3rdFrom: Jane (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 14 May 2003 12:35:41 -0500 (CDT)
I'm surprised that they'll let you try a Vbac after two C's. I had one C-section, and my doctor told me I have a choice whether to try or not this time, but if I have the C-section, I won't be "allowed" to try for a Vbac next time. I've heard this is very common, no VBAC's after 2 C's because it increases the chances of uterine rupture by a fair amount. I was also told that inducing increases the risks a fair amount, but perhaps he meant inducing with pitocin. Is the attempt at VBAC your choice, or is it their standard procedure? Did they tell you about the increased risks of rupture after two C sections, and the possible complications if you have uterine rupture? If I were you, I'd do some research on that and present it to them if they aren't willing to schedule you for a VBAC before you go into labor. I don't mean to scare you, just trying to share the info I've learned from researching it myself.
