Dear Sandra,

First, let's go through the ingredients one at a time:

acetaminophen: that is tylenol. Safe for the baby. Pregnancy category B.

Pseudoephedrine HCl: that is Sudafed. Counterindicated during lactation and should not be given to small infants, according to their website. Pregnancy caterory B.

Chlorpheniramine maleate - that's your antihistamine (suppresses immune function in order to diminish your allergies). Pregnancy caterory B.

All of the ingredients are pregnancy category B - that means all 3 are as safe as medications during pregnancy go. So I think your doctor was right. However, I would try to determine the lowest possible dosage experimentally - start off taking 1/2 a pill and see if there is an effect. If not, slowly increase, but DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN THE MAX DOSE INDICATED ON THE BOX!

Best wishes,
