Re: Pregnancy Scare! to AnonymousFrom: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 6 May 2003 19:06:35 -0500 (CDT)
Yes I realize membranes in the mouth can absorb. But medications have protective coatings on them; this coating has to be broken down first before any of the medication can be absorbed. If she took it out of her mouth as quickly as she says she did, then none of the medication should have been absorbed. I am a premed student and know that the drug could be hazardous but only if it were swallowed or she kept it in her mouth for a long period of time. Some of the other women on this forum advised her of the same thing and I don't see you attacking them. I have purposely avoided posting to this forum for a while because everytime I do someone has something rude to say. I gave her reasonably sound advice - not to worry. There is no need to stress over it since it was already done. Yes Lesa should let her doctor know but stressing over it is pointless especially considering the very small risk.
