iron pills and constipation ... which is the best solutionFrom: steph (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 3 May 2003 08:25:36 -0500 (CDT)
Help! The iron pills are causing me such hard stools that I find a little blood when I wipe. I read the archives, which say 2 fibercon tablets in morning and evening throughout pregnancy. Would this be better than switching to an iron pill with a stool softener? I might have to do both! This is ridiculous! Taking these iron pills actually causes me anxiety because I know the outcome, and yes, I am already drinking about a gallon of water and 25-35 grams of fiber intake per day via fruits/veggies and whole grains. I have a history of irritable bowel, but haven't had any major problems with it in the past 6-10 years (diet controlled).
