Re: PG and Moodiness

Hi, Having completed my second pregnancy a few months ago I can say that yes, it is normal for mood swings to continue throughout pregnancy for some women. However, I also think that depression is also more common during PG than many people realize as well - I ended up having to go back on antidepressants this pregnancy because I was so bad - I felt like I was losing my mind. Maybe your friend would benefit from speaking with a counselor or her doctor about her mood swings? It might help her to feel more in control if she had someone impartial to talk to.

You don't mention if you have ever been pregnant, but it's one of those things that you really can't relate to unless you have been there. Pregnancy is a *very* demanding thing physically (especially when you've already got children who demand your energy), and that plus the hormonal upheaval can be really rough for a woman - and no two women or two pregnancies are alike. Please have patience with your friend, be there for her, offer to take her child for an afternoon so she can relax...and try not to judge her. It's not going to last forever. : ) -Lynn
