Confused about switching Dr.'s...Dr.s opinions please...ladies too!From: Misty (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Apr 2003 15:03:17 -0500 (CDT)
OK, history: gestational giabatic 1st pregnancy-7lbs 9oz at 37 weeks...shoulder dystochia, 4th degree tears 2nd pregnancy-preterm labor at 31 weeks-took procardia and bedrest to stop contractions, then induced at 36 weeks to reduce chance of another shoulder dystochia. baby 6lbs 14oz, no problems I am now 24 weeks with my 3rd pregnancy and I am seeing a general ob rather than perinatologist because we moved and she is an hour away. I loved my previous doctor and constantly compare her to this new one. I am thinking of traveling the hour every week though because: 1. New doctor doesn't seem to think non-stress tests are needed before 30 weeks, even though I had preterm labor with other pregnancy 2. He always brings up the idea of a c-section instead even though I have told him I am adament about natural childbirth 3. I always have to force the nurse to check my urine for sugar and protein at every visit 4. Doctor said he won't induce me before 37 weeks even if baby is measuring big 5. Said he'll do a follow up ultrasound at 32 weeks, even though I had them every 2 weeks after 24 weeks, then every week during last month 6. He didn't seem to take my birthplan very seriously. I make it so when I am in hard labor, I won't have to answer questions they can already know the answer to. Labor with no pain medication is serious business. He said, "well, most of this should be OK, but I'll probably ask about this stuff anyway." Am I being too critical?
