Re: Severly short humerus and femur lengths??? TO HEATHERFrom: Valerie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Apr 2003 13:49:29 -0500 (CDT)
Heather, We're right about the same age.... how funny because I don't see alot of other well spoken younger gals on the board (many over 30). Please do feel free to email me, I am not an MD, but I have more experience with dwarfism than the "average bear" and more than many MD's (and I have always hated it that docs treat the health but often do not regard their responsibility for the mental health) FYI, for the most common form of dwarfism (achondroplasia) 80% of "achons" are born to parents of average size with no known family history of dwarfism, it is just a genetically random happening that approxiamately 1 in 17,000 babies will be an achondroplastic dwarf. (I am glad stating my honest opinion sat well with you, one other person in your situation once blasted me hard-core! But, honestly, short or tall fat or skinny s/he will still be your perfect little baby... I got married at 19 and tried for about 4 years to conceive because I have known fertility issues and my husband and I were even considering adopting a foreign-born dwarf child as other countries are not all as enlightened as the ours with regard to people with disabilities.) Email me at thatsmy2cents@yahoo.com
