You might want to ask your dr and hospital if they could use some EMLA Cream in advance of the procedure. ELMA Cream is what they use to numb skin of children and others who are very sensative when they need an IV. I think they put it on skin about a half hour or hour before a needle type procedure. My neice has a medical condition which causes her to need in hospital and at home IVs a lot. She tells me it works very well and really makes the pain much much less. Good Luck.
