Back Pain - 12weeks preg

We are 12weeks pregnant. Everything is going well ( have a heart beat) with the exception to terrible back pain. Before I became pregnant I was taking Endocet for the pain when needed. I have not taken any in about 12 weeks. Right now I am using stretching/heating pads. The pain is getting very bad. It's actually my siatic (spelling). I knew this from before

My question is, is it safe to take the Endocet while pregnant? If not, what is another option. So far I have only gained 4lbs, but am concerned if I do gain any further weight.
