'Kicking The Dog'...figure of speechFrom: Melissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 22 Apr 2003 16:13:26 -0500 (CDT)
Dear all, My apologies to those I upset with the kicking the dog statement. I certainly did not wish to cause mental anguish to anyone over the statement. In my original post about "kicking the dog" was meant as a figure of speech, not to be taken literally. I made reference to PETA as a lark to denote that it was not a literal statement. DEFINITION: Figure of Speech (noun) - 1. language used in a figurative or nonliteral sense Synonyms: trope, figure, image I thought about removing the reference to the dog, but left it there because I thought people would understand it was not meant literally in the least. I have never kicked a dog, and certainly don't condone kicking one. I apologize that my original post contributed to more 'board bashing', as it was not the intent of this writer. Well wishes to all,
-- Melissa
