2nd sack on placenta at delivery?From: Joanna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 18 Apr 2003 16:13:23 -0500 (CDT)
I've been thinking about the birth of my 1 yo daughter, and pondering The things that took place. I *believe* I was caring twins and lost one around 13 weeks. I never had an ultrasound, but this was my 3rd pregnancy and it seemed different. I had more morning sickness, was more tired and felt changes sooner. Up to 13 weeks I measured up to 4 cm higher in fundal height, and I think I felt a second bump behind my baby when gently palpitating my uterus. Then things changed. My growth slowed down to normal, and I lost that "feeling" that I was going to have twins. I thought maybe I was wrong but when my daughter was born there was an extra small sac of waters attached to her placenta, empty. It was about the size of an orange, and I wondered about it at the time. It has been bothering me though, I have never heard of anyone having this extra bag of waters, and wondered if any of you have heard of or experienced this. I know that knowing will not change what happened, but I still feel like it would help me to understand what happened. Does this sound like vanishing twin syndrome and is the second chorionic sac common? Thankyou for any input!
