2nd pg after shortened cervix

Hello,

I am pg with #2. I carried #1 to 37 weeks with a shortened cervix (last measured 2.1 at 24 weeks). I delivered him at 37 weeks due to fetal distress, not due to labor starting. My obgyn did not take my cervix shortening very seriously with #1 and is not even talking about measuring it this time and this concerns me. Does the measurement have much to do with predicting preterm labor or cervical incompetence? Since my shortened cervix did not result in any problems with my first, is there a chance that it will cause a problem with this one? Also, my normal cervical pre-pregnancy measurement is 5+ cm. Will my cervix shorten as drastically as it did with my first pregnancy with each subsequent pregnancy?

Thanks in advance.
