30 weeks pregnant AND reoccuring lesion on buttockFrom: KS (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 5 Apr 2003 09:25:02 -0600 (CST)
I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and have a lesion (have had it before in the same spot) that developed on my buttock. It resembles a spider bite and doesn't blister but does ooze a bit and scab over after a few days. This lesion first appeared five years ago after the delivery of my son and has reoccured about three to four times a year although I haven't had it in almost a year. I've had it cultured for genital herpes and it was negative. My doctor still thought it might be genital herpes. However, my ob-gyn tested me with the pockit test at the beginning of my pregnancy and the test was negative for HSV. I told him I'd call in if I developed any lesions so he could look at it. The lesion developed last night (Friday night) and my doctor's office doesn't open until Monday so I cannot have it checked out. Any idea what this may be? Even with two negative tests, could it be HSV? I'm scared of what this could do to the baby. Should I call the l&d and go in to have it checked out (although I'd really rather not). Any advice or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated
