Miscarriage after Cytotec: What should I expect?From: Julie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 3 Apr 2003 09:59:37 -0600 (CST)
Hi, doctors -- I wonder if you can give me any insight on this. After my first IVF, my doctor determined that my pregnancy wasn't viable; the gestational sac was growing way too slowly (9mm gestational sac at 6w 4d with only the slightest suggestion of a yolk sac). I took 800mg of Cytotec to induce miscarriage, but the cramping wasn't very strong and I had NO bleeding (though I did pass some small amount of tissue). As an ultrasound revealed a couple of days later, there was still a significant amount of tissue left in my uterus, so I took another 800mg. That night, I did have some bleeding, but not enough to soak even a single pad. And in the couple of days since then, I've had some dark brown spotting, but no more fresh blood. Is this normal? Should I have expected to actually bleed more? Can I expect more bleeding down the line at some random time, or could this be all I'll have? I'm really not sure what should be happening. Thanks for any information you can give me.
